Karen Nelson

About the Author

Karen Nelson is a writer in southwest Missouri, homeschooling her children in the rural Ozark Mountains.  She enjoys all genres of reading and writing, but her heart is firmly rooted in education.

Karen’s triple-certification from Missouri State University allows her to teach a variety of age groups, in subjects ranging from literacy and creativity, to technical skills in the fiber arts.  She has published numerous educational materials, including the Literature Theme Units for Goldminds' Young Adult Division, and currently serves as Curriculum Coordinator for Goldminds Publishing.

Karen serves as Technical Editor for Flash Fiction Chronicles, and was an inaugural member of the editing team for Gravel: A Literary Journal, published by University of Arkansas.

She has been a regular columnist with The Ozarks Mountaineer Magazine, hosted an online poetry ring, maintains membership in several writing guilds, and speaks at a variety of community events and workshops.  She currently is working on her MFA through University of Arkansas, and coordinating arts and education workshops with the Branson Arts Council, Missouri State University, and other organizations.
